Look at our Cool House!

Look, people! Our house! It isn't PINK anymore.
Not that there's anything wrong with pink.
It's just that...pink houses?
That's a song by John Cougar Mellencamp.
Not somewhere you should live.

(Pay no attention to the boy in the water sprinkler)

Our garage. Mama says is almost blends in now.

It's green. Mark Twain Olive Green to be exact.

A big thanks to all the gentlemen whose hard work rocked our house!

Pardon our mess on the back porch. It's still a work in progress.

Oh, and the boy in the water sprinkler...

He had a GREAT time while mom was busy taking pictures.

This Old House (A Mommy Blog)

We bought this house in 2002.
We moved in December.
The week before Christmas.
If you ever get the chance to do that...pass.
It was bitter cold.
It drizzled rain.
We didn't decorate at ALL.
We were pretty grumpy.
The house was pale pink.
Dark pink & kelly green trim.
Remember Kelly Green?
Circa 1985.
Close your eyes and think of the Cabbage Patch Kids packaging.
That was our house.
Hubby got teased
A LOT.
"You sure are going to look cute mowing your yard in a tutu in front of your pink house"
He worked at the Sherrif's Department then.
Those guys were brutal.
We were going to paint the next Summer.

Needless to say, our house was still pink until 2 weeks ago.

Here are some before pics:

Yes, that IS a bat hanging from our porch.
I forgot to take it down at Halloween.
Don't judge me.

Our garage with the hideous white door.
1: WHY do home builders but garages on the FRONT of the house?
2: WHY do they leave them WHITE? This stands out.
Thank you. I'll get off my soapbox now.

See how the siding is coming up all around the bottom?
Never mind the mold & dirt.

ALL of the soffit was sagging.
There was a big 'ol birds nest up there.
I think there might have been birds.
Frankly, I don't want to know if we've displaced a little bird family.
Mama bird
Daddy bird
Baby birds.
I don't want to know.

Here's the back of the house.
You see, they don't make this siding anymore.
Nice, huh?
It's either narrower or broader than this.
We didn't even want to try to match it.
So the builders just ripped off the bottom 2 feet.

This is our meager back porch.
Have I mentioned that our house was PINK?!
Stay tuned folks.
Things they are a changin'.
