Happy Birthday, Nana Toodie!

It's Nana's 57th Birthday!
All she has talked about for the last few months is eating at a place called "Babe's".
So we drove down to Sanger, USA today to see what this place was all about.

This is me and my Nana in front of Babe! You know, a giant chicken.

Mama had to make a 'pit stop'. Clint Eastwood stared at her the whole time.
She said it made her uncomfortable.

If you go to a place called Babe's Chicken Dinner, you HAVE to order the chicken.
This is what arrived at our table a few minutes later....
Now THAT's a pile of chicken!
(With a giant Chicken Fried Steak on top for my Dad.
He's weird that way, go to a chicken joint & order a steak.)

They serve creamed corn, green beans, mashed potatoes, gravy & the most delish biscuits I ever tasted.
You don't get to pick. They bring it out family style & you help yourself.
Mama said she had died & gone to heaven.
Daddy said if we lived in Sanger, he would weigh 750 pounds because of those mashed potatoes.
Too bad I don't like mashed potatoes. See I have this texture thing.
Anyway....
Amen to Babe's!

I heart Babe's!

Since it was Nana's Birthday, they made her put a chicken hat on & do......

what else? THE CHICKEN DANCE.

The waitresses also pulled kids up in a line & did the Hokey Pokey.

They brought her a biscuit with butter & syrup on it too!
That's a little flamingo on top!
I'm not sure why the flamingo, since it's a Chicken Shack, but whatever. I won't judge.

Here's my Mama & Daddy after a wonderful dinner.

Wow, I'm beat!
Did I mention that we also went to Cabela's?
That's a whole other story for another time.

Anyway, Happy Birthday Nana!
I had a GREAT time today!

Camping....Day 2! Wow!

Ok, so Day 2 was even MORE awesome than yesterday.
There was swimming!

Dad helped me get all decked out in, what else, Lightening McQueen swim trunks.

Safety first....Here's my cool life jacket!

And then there were these...

Brats! They were wonderful!

While I took a nap in the camper, Nana & Papa headed down to do some fishing.

Now you know why they call this the Red River. We had red sand in places where you shouldn't EVER have sand.

Papa, I can't wait until you can teach me how to fish!

This is our neighbor at the campsite. His name is Mason. I watched him peddle his bicycle...a LOT.

After a while, I started to get the hang of peddling my own Hot Wheels....

then I was finally peddling on my own. Thank you Mason!

The sun started to set over Pottsboro, and Daddy lit some small fireworks.
It was smokey & some of the suckers were LOUD!

Mama bought me this cool firetruck. When we lit it, sparks flew out of it, then the ladder went up & sparks flew out of it too. It was sooooo COOL!

I played with it for the rest of the night & bid a tearful goodbye when we had to leave.
(Daddy was very nervous about the chemicals and gunpowder residue.)

Whew, this camping stuff is tiring.

When can we go again?

Ahhhh, camping! (Day 1)

Wow, where have I been all this time. This camping stuff is GREAT. Nana & Papa cooked for us. I ate hamburgers, hot dogs and puffy Cheetos. I sat by the lake while Mama & Daddy waded in the water.

I ate lots of Oreo cookies. Did you know they make them with CHOCOLATE in the middle?

After dinner we took a stroll to another beach. Mama, Nana & I went swimming. Boy the water was rough. They kept saying something about "White Cappin'" but I have no clue what that means. I know it was hard to stand up with all those waves knocking me down. Once, my floatie boat blew away & Mama had to swim really fast to go catch it.

Later, the skies started looking dark & a big storm blew in.

Daddy put me up on his shoulders so I could see the lake better. It sure was windy.

It started to rain really hard, so we packed up the car and headed home.

We'll go back in the morning; I wonder what we'll get into tomorrow?

What is this "Camping" you speak of???

Well, Nana & Papa are going "Camping". I'm not really sure what that is, but there is this giant metal box with wheels sitting on the side of their house now. There has been much activity going on in said metal box. Papa brought it home from the Farm (The Huntin' Lodge) and has been cleaning, repairing, and doing some overall spiffing up of this camper thing.

They are heading out to Lake Texoma today. We will join them tomorrow.
Mama said something like: "Why they would want to go to the Lake on one of the busiest holidays of the year where people are drinking and playing with explosives is beyond me...."

Nana said something about roasting marshmallows & making something something called 'SMORES'? I'm not sure what they are, but Mama said they are YUMMY.

I will take some pictures & keep you posted.....
