Cruisin' to Mexico! (Mommy Blog)

Well, after many years, Hubby & I decided it was time for a vacation. We were looking at renting a house on the Texas coast & maybe inviting my parents to help us watch the G-Man. My mom said "why don't you two go & leave G-Man with us?" Hmm? I hadn't thought of that. Could we leave for 5 days without him? Where would we go? We went to our local travel agent, told her our budget & ideas. Next thing I know, we are scheduled to leave in 3 weeks for a Mexican Criuse. Wow. Ok. Soooo, on September 14, we headed down to Galveston & boarded the Ecstacy for a 5 day cruise (not a 3 hour tour).

The sunset over the back of the boat that evening was beautiful. We sat in the deck chairs, enjoying the warm, salty breeze & a beer.

Yep, that's me & my little fat toes looking out over the horizon.

Sigh, this is what we've been waiting for...some Rest & Relaxation.

I could totally fall asleep right here & not wake up for about 12 hours. We spent an hour or so in these very chairs every day. It was on the top deck, next to the running track. You could hear the faint sound of the music from the lido deck.

Had to take a picture of the inside of our room safe. Hubby is sooo000 OCD & he doesn't even realize it.

We hung out on the back of the boat to get some rays.

Dinner Tuesday Night after a long day at sea. We never dress up like this at home. People would look at you funny if you showed up at Logan's Roadhouse dressed like this.

View of our boat from the pier.

This is Playa Mia Beach. I could retire somewhere very similar to this.

Beach Break at Playa Mia: open bar, free buffet & all the sand & sun we could handle.

This is the most beautiful, bluest water I've ever seen.

I think the heat & humidity made me a little loopy.
This is way after the 2 pina colodas had worn off.

This was the sunset while we were pulling away from Cozumel.

The next morning we arrived in Progresso. It has a 4.6 mile long pier because the water here is so shallow. There were armed guards everywhere along the pier.

Just off the boat, we boarded a charter bus headed for Dzibilchaltun Ruins. The heat here puts Texas in summertime to shame. The humity was about 90%.

This was the view looking down from the top of this pyramid. If anyone saw the movie Apacalypto, I'm pretty sure this is the one they were rolling heads down.

Shane headed to the top of a pyramid. The steps were tiny.

Dang Spainairds plopped a cathedral down in the middle of this Mayan city.

This was the main temple. The sun & moon shines directly through the windows during the Equinoxes & Solstices (not sure what the plurals would be, but those sound good, right?)

Just liked the looks of this little man.

Folk dancers. Why YES those are machetes they are dancing with.

One of the cabelleros from the horse show.

View from our bus of a goat herder & his flock on the way back to the boat.

Shane chilling while enjoying the view of the ocean, sketching & listening to the IPod.
We really enjoyed this day at sea. I did a little reading (Breaking Dawn). We went back to the room, ordered sandwiches & cake from room service. Then we took a 3 1/2 nap. I haven't taken a 3 1/2 hr nap since before G-Man was born. It was divine!
Shane says it's not a nap when you close the curtains, turn the A/C to snowblowing mode & crawl under the covers. Nonetheless, he enjoyed our nap too.

Chocolate Melting Cake. I had one EVERY day on the boat. Gotta find me that recipe.
This was a wonderful vacation. We needed it so much. We decided that we will go away together....alone, one time each year.
We got back to big D Saturday afternoon while G-Man was sleeping. When he woke up, Hubby & I went into his room & who was he asking for?
Nana & PaPa.
I guess he didn't miss us much.

A week without parents

So after a really long time, Mom & Dad decided to go on vacation. Oh, & they decided to leave me at home (the nerve). Nana TooDoo, PaPa Tommy & Aunt JiJi took care of me while they were gone.

Here I am enjoying some crackers on Nana's back porch (I'm a little red-faced from all the running around)

A little ABC fun in the bathtub.

Nana has a friend who is a dispatcher at the Denison Fire Dept, so she took me to see an 'Eeeoooooeeeeoooo' (Fire Truck).

Why, yes I am running in the street.

Going under the bridge (JiJi's legs)

Going fast down the street on my racer.

Deciding what to buy at the Texoma Children's Museum.

They took me to do a little shopping at the Texoma Children's Museum.

Where is G-Man?

Here I am! Hiding in your suitcases. Y'all are NOT allowed to leave without me again!

Only I could do this... (Mommy Blog)

So, I'm pulling the things I need from my wallet to put in my backpack for our trip....Driver's license, Social Security Card, Visa card, Birth Certificate, Passport. Hmm, Passport. I had it with everything else. It's a little black book, why isn't it here with our birth certificates? I just had it yesterday. Dang!
Me: "Ummmm, Hubby......My passport isn't here."
Hubby: "WHAT!, why not?"
Me: "Well, I had it yesterday when we were making copies of everything."
Hubby: "It's NOT?"
Me: "Ummmm, no."

Let me take you back to Saturday afternoon....On advice from my (very paranoid) friend, Talina, we went to Hubby's office to make copies of our DL, birth certificates, SS cards & passports to leave w/ my mother in the unfortunate event that we are kidnapped while in Mexico.

While making copies, Hubby & I start smelling this HIDEOUS smell. Turns out, it was our son. G-Man had produced one of the most vile poops in poop history. He left a green fog in every room he was running through. I guess when I smelled it, I immediately left my copying task & decided to tackle the 'bog of eternal stench' that was in his pants.

Turns out, I left the passport (the very last thing I copied) in the copier! Thank GOD we found it. Hubby says it was G-Man's last attempt to keep us from leaving him for 6 days.

Y'all have a great week!

Vacation Time (Mommy Blog)

Well, it's been since 2002 (when we got hitched in Las Vegas) since Hubby & I have had a real vacation. (Not to say the this was a vacation either: waiting in long lines at airport while Hubby gets searched.....twice, waiting 2 1/2 hrs at City Hall for marriage license, sitting in a chair for hours for a deranged hairdresser to put many small curls & a whole can of hairspray in my hair).

After having some money left over from selling an extra vehicle, we decided to go on a cruise. I wanted to wait & go the weekend after Thanksgiving. You know, lose weight, work some extra shifts & make some extra money, get a tan, etc. Hubby wanted to go ASAP. So, with less than a month to prepare, we're off to Galveston to board the Ecstasy sailing for 5 days to Progresso & Cozomel Mexico. Plans for the cruise: eat, read, sleep, lay by the pool, eat, read, sleep, lay by the pool. Do you see where I'm headed here.

Nana & PaPa have graciously agreed to keep G-Man while we're away. I've never even left him for 24 hours. I'm leaving for 5 1/2 days.....sniff, sniff. We'll see how this goes, folks & please stay tuned for pics.
